Ruralia Hungarica
Album by Ernő Dohnányi & West Australian Symphony Orchestra & Jorge Mester
Ruralia Hungarica is a suite of piano pieces by Hungarian composer Ernő Dohnányi, composed in 1923. The work draws on Hungarian folk melodies and pastoral motifs, combining late-Romantic harmony with modal colours and dance-like rhythms, and exemplifies Dohnányi's engagement with national idioms in his middle-period output.
