The Rite of Spring
Album by Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & Boston Philharmonic Orchestra & Benjamin Zander & Rex Lawson
The Rite of Spring is a ballet and orchestral work by Igor Stravinsky, premiered in 1913. Marked by driving, primal rhythms, bold dissonances, dense orchestration and frequent shifts of metre, the score represented a radical departure from late-Romantic idioms and played a pivotal role in the emergence of musical modernism.
