Cello Concertos Nos 1 and 2 are two cello concertos by Dmitri Shostakovich, composed in 1959 and 1966 respectively. They exemplify Shostakovich's late Soviet-period style, combining intense, brooding melodic material with jagged rhythms, sombre orchestral textures and moments of angular lyricism, and they occupy an important place in his later output and in the 20th-century cello repertoire.
