Symphony No. 2 and the Wunderhorn song settings are compositions by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed and first performed in the 1890s. They exemplify Mahler's late-Romantic orchestral and vocal writing, combining expansive symphonic forces, expressive solo and choral passages and folk-influenced melodies, and they occupy a crucial position in his move from song-based settings to larger-scale symphonic statements.
