Daphnis et Chloé is a ballet in one act by French composer Maurice Ravel, first performed in 1912. The score uses lush orchestral colour, modal harmonies and expanded percussion to create impressionistic, pastoral and nocturnal textures, and the work occupies a central place in Ravel's output and in early 20th-century French orchestral music.
