The Six Suites for Cello
Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Barbara Westphal
The Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello are a set of six suites for solo cello composed by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1717-1723. They exemplify Baroque dance-suite structure and exploit the cello's range and polyphonic potential through implied multiple voices, occupying a central place in the solo string repertoire and in Bach's output for solo instruments.
