The Rite of Spring

Album by Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & San Francisco Symphony & Esa‐Pekka Salonen

The Rite of Spring is a ballet and orchestral work by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, premiered in 1913. The score is characterised by driving, irregular rhythms, pungent dissonance and vivid orchestration, and its premiere constituted a watershed in early 20th-century music that reshaped Stravinsky's compositional trajectory and influenced the development of musical modernism.
