Symphony No. 1 is the first symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1888. The work blends late-Romantic orchestral writing with folk‑influenced melodies, expanded orchestration and stark contrasts of mood, and it occupies an early place in Mahler's career that foreshadows his later large-scale, emotionally driven symphonies.
