Symphony no. 1 (1935)
Album by William Walton & London Symphony Orchestra & André Previn
Symphony No. 1 is the first symphony by English composer William Walton, premiered in 1935. The work is a large-scale orchestral composition that combines sweeping, lyrical themes with muscular rhythms, colourful and dense orchestration and sharp contrasts, and it contributed to establishing Walton's reputation as a British symphonist in the mid-20th century.
