Die Weihnachtshistorie is a sacred vocal work by German composer Heinrich Schütz, composed in 1664. The work sets the Nativity narrative in a concise, dramatic early-Baroque idiom, employing solo voices, choral passages and continuo to bridge Renaissance polyphony and emerging Baroque recitative, and it forms part of Schütz's late sacred output that illustrates the transition in German sacred music.
