A Child of Our Time
Album by Sir Michael Tippett & London Symphony Orchestra & Sir Colin Davis
A Child of Our Time is an oratorio by English composer Michael Tippett, first performed in 1944. The work combines large-scale choral and orchestral writing with the incorporation of African-American spirituals into its structure, employing recurring motifs and tonal centres that contrasted with contemporary modernist trends and marked Tippett's first major choral-orchestral statement during the Second World War.
