Piano Concerto no. 20 / Piano Concerto no. 27
Album by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Rudolf Serkin & Columbia Symphony Orchestra & The Philadelphia Orchestra & George Szell & Eugene Ormandy
Piano Concertos No. 20 and No. 27 are piano concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in 1785 and 1791 respectively. The works illustrate contrasting facets of Mozart's mature Classical style, with the earlier concerto written in a dramatic minor key featuring greater orchestral weight and stormier affect, while the later concerto — his final piano concerto — adopts a more intimate, lyrical demeanour indicative of his late-period simplicity and refinement.
