Pictures at an Exhibition is a suite for piano by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky, composed in 1874. The work presents a sequence of musical sketches inspired by an art exhibition, characterised by vivid pianistic writing, modal harmonies, striking dynamic contrasts and inventive rhythms, and it occupies a significant place in Mussorgsky's output and in late Romantic Russian music.
