Violinkonzerte, BWV 1041–1043

Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Christoph Poppen & Bach‐Collegium Stuttgart & Helmuth Rilling

Violinkonzerte, BWV 1041–1043 are a set of violin concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed c. 1717–1723. Representative of Baroque concerto practice, they feature ritornello-driven outer movements and expressive, ornamented slow movements that showcase Bach's command of counterpoint and the violin idiom, and they occupy an important place in his instrumental oeuvre.
