Symphony No.6 in F, Op. 68

Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Chicago Symphony Orchestra & Fritz Reiner

Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68, is the sixth symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed and premiered in 1808. A programme symphony depicting rural scenes and nature, it employs lyrical slow movements, rustic dance elements and vivid orchestral effects to evoke countryside moods and occupies a significant place in Beethoven's output as an early instance of his interest in descriptive music and a step towards the greater formal experimentation of his later works.
