Symphony no. 9

Symphony No. 9 is the ninth symphony by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, completed in 1945. The work juxtaposes classical symphonic forms with brisk, often sardonic orchestral textures, abrupt shifts of mood and concise movements, and it marked a stylistic shift from his large-scale wartime symphonies toward a more economical post-war approach in his output.
