Christus am Ölberge is an oratorio scene by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1803. The work combines soloists, chorus and orchestra in a predominantly Classical idiom with heightened dramatic expression and increasingly bold harmonic and orchestral writing, and it sits on the cusp of Beethoven's middle (heroic) period as an early engagement with larger-scale sacred and dramatic forms.
