Duke Bluebeard's Castle is a one-act opera by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, completed in 1918. The score uses dense orchestral colour, dissonant harmonies and a compact two-character cast to create a tense psychological atmosphere, and it was Bartók's only completed opera composed in the years after the First World War when he developed his modernist style.
