Symphony no. 2 "Resurrection"
Album by Gustav Mahler & The Philadelphia Orchestra & The Philadelphia Singers & Christoph Eschenbach
Symphony No. 2 'Resurrection' is the second symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1894. The five-movement, large-scale work combines late-Romantic orchestral forces with choral and solo vocal elements, expansive thematic transformation and stark contrasts of mood, and it marked a turning point in Mahler's development as he integrated vocal writing and existential themes into the symphonic form.
First released: February 2009
