Brandenburg Concertos nos. 1, 2, & 3

Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Boston Baroque & Martin Pearlman

Brandenburg Concertos Nos. 1, 2 and 3 are three of the six instrumental concertos compiled by Johann Sebastian Bach and first presented in 1721. Representative of the high Baroque concerto grosso tradition, they feature contrasts between groups of soloists and the full ensemble, varied and often unusual instrumentation, and contrapuntal writing that demonstrates Bach's command of instrumental form and his influence on subsequent orchestral practice.
