Études-Tableaux op. 33 & op. 39
Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & John Lill
Études-Tableaux, Opp. 33 and 39 are sets of solo piano études by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, composed in 1911 and 1917. They are characterised by virtuosic pianism, dense chromatic harmonies and expansive textures that blend late-Romantic expressiveness with early twentieth-century harmonic exploration, and they occupy a significant place in Rachmaninoff's later compositional output as examples of his mature pianistic style.
