Symphonies Nos.1 & 2
Album by Franz Schubert & WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln & Günter Wand
Symphonies Nos. 1 & 2 are the first two symphonies by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, completed in 1813 and 1815 respectively. Written in the Classical tradition with clear sonata structures and bright orchestral textures, they show youthful craftsmanship influenced by Haydn and Mozart and foreshadow Schubert's later approach to melody and orchestral writing as he emerged as a symphonist in the early Romantic period.
