Francesca da Rimini
Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & BBC Singers & BBC Philharmonic & Gianandrea Noseda
Francesca da Rimini is a symphonic poem by Sergei Rachmaninov, composed in 1900. The orchestral work employs late-Romantic harmony and dramatic, chromatic orchestration with agitated string writing and dark brass colours to evoke its narrative subject, and it illustrates Rachmaninov's development of a mature orchestral voice alongside his piano output.
