The Knot Garden / A Child of Our Time
Album by Sir Michael Tippett & Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden & BBC Singers & BBC Symphony Chorus & BBC Symphony Orchestra & Sir Colin Davis
The Knot Garden is the third opera by British composer Sir Michael Tippett, completed in 1969. This work delves into the psychological complexities of its characters, blending eclectic musical influences into a lyrically intense score. A Child of Our Time is a secular oratorio composed by Tippett between 1939 and 1941. Inspired by the events of Kristallnacht, it incorporates African-American spirituals to convey a universal message of oppression and reconciliation.

First released: 1995
