Symphony no. 2 / Le Poeme de l'Extase
Album by Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin & The Philadelphia Orchestra & Riccardo Muti
Symphony No. 2, Le Poème de l'Extase is the second symphony by Russian composer Alexander Scriabin, completed in 1903. The work bridges late-Romantic orchestral writing and Scriabin's emerging mystic chromatic language, featuring lush orchestration, sweeping harmonic progressions and colouristic, increasingly dissonant textures that point toward his later, more experimental compositions.
