Messa da Requiem

Messa da Requiem is a choral-orchestral setting of the Roman Catholic Mass for the Dead by Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, composed in 1874 and first performed that year. The work blends operatic drama with liturgical form, employing four vocal soloists, large chorus and full orchestra, and represents Verdi's principal late-career sacred composition that applies his operatic techniques to large-scale concerted sacred music.
