Die Streichquintette
Album by Johannes Brahms & Juilliard String Quartet & Walter Trampler
Die Streichquintette are two string quintets by German composer Johannes Brahms, composed in 1882 and 1890. The works are Romantic-era chamber pieces scored for a standard string quartet with an extra viola, characterised by dense harmonic textures, contrapuntal writing and expansive sonata-based structures that reflect Brahms's mature compositional style and his contribution to late Romantic chamber music.
