Symphony no. 11
Album by Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich & Beethoven Orchester Bonn & Roman Kofman
Symphony No. 11 in G minor, Op. 103 is the eleventh symphony by Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovich, composed and premiered in 1957. The work employs large-scale orchestration, vivid orchestral colour and a broadly programme-like structure to evoke events of 1905, reflecting a late-1950s turn in Shostakovich's output toward more overtly narrative and publicly communicative symphonic writing within the Soviet context.
