The Sinking of the Titanic

The Sinking of the Titanic is an album by English composer Gavin Bryars, first released in 1975. Combining minimalist classical writing, ambient textures and taped fragments of found sound, the work unfolds as long, slow-moving episodes for strings and voices that evoke memory and maritime atmosphere and represents an early example of Bryars's experimental approach that helped bridge contemporary classical and ambient music.
