Word of Mouth is a studio album by American jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius, released in 1981. The record features large-scale jazz-fusion arrangements blending big-band horn charts, orchestral textures and complex rhythmic writing around Pastorius's prominent electric bass, marking a move in his career toward expansive ensemble composition and an effort to broaden the instrument's melodic and harmonic role.
