Lachrimæ

Album by John Dowland & Jadran Duncumb & Accademia Strumentale Italiana & Alberto Rasi

Lachrimæ, or Seaven Teares is a collection of consort music by English Renaissance lutenist John Dowland, published in 1604. The pieces draw on late Renaissance modal harmony and lute-consort textures, employing melancholy melodies, pavane-derived forms and ornate lute ornamentation, and they occupy an important place in Dowland's output and in the development of early 17th-century English chamber music.
