Flute Sonatas

Flute Sonatas is a collection of sonatas for transverse flute and basso continuo by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed in the early 18th century (c. 1720). They are Baroque chamber works that pair lyrical flute lines with contrapuntal writing and ornamented phrasing across movements often derived from dance forms, and they form part of Bach's instrumental output that is central to the flute repertoire.
