Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" is the second symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1894 and premiered in 1895. A large-scale late-Romantic work, it uses expansive orchestral forces together with chorus and vocal soloists in the final movement, juxtaposing sombre, introspective passages with dramatically climactic textures and exploring themes of death and resurrection that mark a key moment in Mahler's symphonic development toward increasingly vast and philosophically charged works.
