Album by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky & Alexander Porfyrevich Borodin & Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky & The Philadelphia Orchestra & Eugene Ormandy

The 1812 Overture is a concert overture by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, written in 1880. Scored for large orchestral forces and incorporating cannon fire and church bells, it is a programme work commemorating Russia's defence against Napoleon's 1812 invasion and represents Tchaikovsky's engagement with national themes and programme music late in his career.
