Requiem
Album by Gabriel Fauré & Lucia Popp & Simon Estes & MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig & Staatskapelle Dresden & Sir Colin Davis
Requiem is a choral work by the French composer Gabriel Fauré, composed between 1887 and 1890. The music takes a restrained, consolatory approach to the requiem mass, favouring lyrical melody, transparent orchestration and intimate choral writing rather than dramatic gestures, and it occupies a central place in Fauré's later output and in the French choral tradition.
