Cello Concerto / Piano Concerto

Album by Robert Schumann & Christophe Coin & Andreas Staier & Orchestre des Champs‐Élysées & Philippe Herreweghe

Cello Concerto and Piano Concerto are concertos by Robert Schumann, composed in 1850 and 1845 respectively. Musically they exemplify Schumann's Romantic idiom with lyrical melodies, expressive harmony and rich orchestral colour, the piano concerto representing his main mid-1840s work for piano and orchestra while the cello concerto shows a later, more concentrated and chamber-like interaction between soloist and orchestra within his compositional development.
