The Swingin' Nutcracker
Album by Shorty Rogers
The Swingin' Nutcracker is an album by American jazz trumpeter and arranger Shorty Rogers, released in 1960. It is a set of jazz arrangements of the Nutcracker suite in a cool West Coast idiom, with brass-heavy charts, swinging rhythms, relaxed tempos and concise solos, and it came during Rogers' mid-career period when he focused on arranging classical themes for jazz ensembles.
