Big Band
Big Band music emerged in the 1930s in America, largely playing fast and lively dance tunes that made people put away their umbrellas and hit the dance floor instead. Characterised by large ensembles featuring brass, woodwinds, and a rhythm section, it sounds like a musical juggernaut marching towards an extremely fun evening, complete with improvised solos that could outshine a simple dinner invitation. It was so popular that it even led to a few unscheduled boogie nights during the war, as troops found solace in the swing of it all.
