Cembalokonzerte, BWV 1055–1058
Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Robert Levin & Bach‐Collegium Stuttgart & Helmuth Rilling
Cembalokonzerte, BWV 1055–1058 are four harpsichord concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed around 1738–1739. They fuse Italian concerto form with German contrapuntal writing, pairing ritornello-driven outer movements and expressive slow movements that highlight the harpsichord's solo role within an orchestral texture, and they reflect Bach's adaptation of earlier concerto models during his mature Leipzig period.
