Ballet Mécanique
Album by George Antheil & Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra & Daniel Spalding
Ballet Mécanique is an avant-garde composition by American composer George Antheil, first performed in 1924. The work employs mechanistic rhythms, dense percussion and unconventional combinations of instruments, including multiple synchronised pianos and industrial sonorities, and represents an early modernist exploration of machine-age timbres within Antheil's output and 20th-century experimental music.
