Secular Cantatas BWV 208 and BWV 209 are secular cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed in 1713 and circa 1742 respectively. They exemplify Baroque secular vocal writing, scoring solo voices with a small Baroque orchestra and continuo and functioning as occasional music written for specific civic and courtly events, illustrating Bach's engagement with secular patronage alongside his sacred output.
