Symphony no. 1
Album by Johannes Brahms & NBC Symphony Orchestra & Arturo Toscanini
Symphony No. 1 is the first symphony by German composer Johannes Brahms, completed and premiered in 1876. The work draws on the Austro-German symphonic tradition with broad, sonorous orchestration, complex developmental writing and recurring thematic ideas, marking the culmination of Brahms's long engagement with orchestral form and his establishment within nineteenth-century symphonic practice.
