Altar is a collaborative studio album by American drone metal band Sunn O))) and Japanese experimental rock band Boris, released in 2006. The album blends sustained low-frequency drones, dense amplification and experimental noise with moments of heavy, slow-moving riffing and atmospheric passages, representing a significant point in both bands' careers as they expanded into large-scale, cross-genre experimentation.
