Sunn O))) are an American drone metal band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1998 that emerged from the underground metal scene. Their music emphasises extended low-frequency guitar drones, extreme volume and sparse arrangements, drawing on doom, noise, ambient and experimental composition, and across their career they have pursued collaborations and explorations into orchestral and electronic textures within avant-garde contexts.
