Daphnis et Chloé is a symphonic suite by French composer Maurice Ravel, derived from his ballet and first performed in 1912. The music exemplifies impressionistic orchestral writing, characterised by expansive, colouristic scoring, modal and chromatic harmonies and the use of a wordless chorus, and it occupies an important place in Ravel's career as a significant development in his orchestral technique.
