Philippe Gaubert
Philippe Gaubert was a French flautist, conductor and composer born in 1879 who trained at the Paris Conservatoire and began his professional career in the early 20th century within the classical tradition. His output is characterised by lyrical flute writing and the use of orchestral colour, and his career encompassed solo flute pieces, chamber music, songs and orchestral works alongside extensive work as a conductor.
