Roots Music

Roots music emerged in the early 20th century, primarily in the United States, as a celebration of folk traditions through musical storytelling; it's like the great-great-grandchild of travelling minstrels who decided that taking a break from deep philosophical debate was a good idea. Characterised by acoustic instruments and a healthy dose of cultural influences, it often sounds like a campfire singalong where everyone forgot the lyrics and just embraced the warm nostalgia instead. Interestingly, it has managed to infiltrate various music scenes, proving that there’s no such thing as too much banjo, especially if the point is to get everyone feeling a tad more existential over a pint or two.
