Lead Belly

Lead Belly was an American folk and blues singer and guitarist from Mooringsport, Louisiana, whose performing and recording career began in the early 20th century. He performed a wide repertoire of blues, spirituals, work songs and ballads, often accompanying himself on a twelve‑string guitar, and his prison recordings and song versions were later taken up by collectors and the mid‑20th‑century folk revival.
