Melodic rap emerged in the late 2010s, combining the rhythmic flow of traditional rap with catchy melodies, creating a sound that occasionally makes you wonder if you're listening to a song or an emotional therapy session. It often features auto-tuned crooning layered over trap beats, giving it an air of vulnerability whilst still allowing for some pretty cheeky boasts. This genre has not only dominated the charts but also managed to convince even your grandma that rapping can be, dare I say, quite lovely.
