2 Tone

2 Tone emerged in late 1970s Britain as a cheeky fusion of ska and punk, bringing together skinheads and mod revivalists in a musical snog that was both toe-tapping and socially aware. It’s characterised by upbeat rhythms, brass sections, and lyrics tackling issues like race and inequality, often with a side of irony that would make Monty Python proud. This genre not only made everyone dance, but it also made us think, proving that fun and meaningful can be a rather marvellous combination, like a good cup of tea with a splash of milk.
